Nap vs. Sleep

Did you know?

Naps are supposed to be not more than 10 minutes or so. So, when you sleep more than that, it should be called sleep rather than a nap.

Then again, it sounds pretty awkward to say “I’m going to take a little sleep.” The right sentence though is “I’m going to sleep for a bit.”

These two are often mixed up so people tend to use them the wrong ways. People end up doing them wrongly as well such as when you originally planned to take a nap that ended up in a deep sleep.

Regardless, you should know the difference because the person you’re telling it too might get confused as well and expect you napping when you’re sleeping vice versa.
